Stand Up Paddle Boarding Budds beach Gold Coast
Stand up paddle boarding quickly became one of my favorite activities. My first stand up paddle boarding experience was at Budds Beach in Surfers Paradise. Since then I have been Stand Up Paddle Boarding all around the Gold Coast including out in the ocean and at many other places around the world. This blog will share my story of stand up paddle boarding at Budds Beach in Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast. Stand Up Paddle Boarding at Budds Beach It was a beautiful day at Budds beach, the sun was shining, mostly blue skies, no one around and no wind. Once I got the hang of standing up I had a very relaxing session. It was so peaceful to be out on the board with no one around. Budds beach offers amazing scenery with the Surfers city skyline to one side and multi million dollar homes and boats to the other. To be in the middle of the city but be able to enjoy paddle boarding is such an amazing experience. Stand up paddle boarding is a great way to see the waterways of the Gold Coast and take in the sun, fresh air, and beautiful views. It is the […]

Gold Coasts Best Beaches
Having travelled far and wide, I am proud to say that the Gold Coast has some of the best beaches that I have visited in the world. Every beach on the Gold Coast is amazing, however there are a few in particular that I prefer to visit.  These are Gold Coasts best beaches, in my opinion. Gold Coasts Best Beaches   Burleigh Heads Burleigh Heads has quickly become one of the most popular places on the Gold Coast, and for good reason. Burleigh is the full package offering perfect beaches, surf breaks, nature walks and endless dining options. You could easily spend a full day (or more) in Burleigh. My day in Burleigh would start at The Fruit shop with a fresh juice and acai bowl (enjoyed on Burleigh Headland).  I would then do the Burleigh National Park walk, heading up to Tumgun Lookout then down to Tallebudgera Creek for a quick dip before looping back around the Burleigh Beach where I would enjoy some time on the beach in the sun. For lunch, options are endless. My favourite is Govindas, a vegetarian option. Enjoy some shopping in the afternoon before grabbing a six pack and heading to the headland […]

Gold Coasts Best Beaches

Mount Warning is the highest peak in the Northern NSW region. The hike is best described as strenuous, but worth it for the view. I have hiked Mount Warning a few times now and it never disappoints. The Trail 9km round trip 2-5 hours return The trail starts from the top of the car park, kicking straight into a steep series of stairs. As you pass the stairs, the trail levels out to a consistent incline of long switchbacks. A canopy of dense ancient trees and greenery covers the first section of the trail. It is hard to stop looking up, but necessary as the path can be uneven, so watch your step! The trail is a total of 4.5 kms, the first 4km being stairs and switchbacks, followed by a final rock climb to the summit. The rock climb is steep, so if you are afraid of height I would steer clear. For the adventurers, you will love it. There is a chain to use to assist you with the climb (photo below). My friend and I went without and scaled the rocks with our hands and feet. I loved it! The view from the top is unreal with […]

Coombabah Lakelands
Living on the Southern end of the Gold Coast, I often spend my spare time exploring the south: Northern NSW, Dreamtime Beach, Byron Bay, Minyon Falls etc. This weekend I thought I would do something different and head North to Coombabah Lakelands Nature Reserve, located near Harbour Town Shopping centre. Here you will find a lake, a broad walk and an abundance of native flora and fauna. I always love finding new places so enjoyed my adventure to Coombabah Lakelands, however must admit that it there are many other places I would recommend checking out before heading here, especially if you have limited time. Coombabah Lakelands – Shelter Road We started out at Coombabah Lakelands – Shelter Road, which is near the animal welfare. From here you will find a short trail that leads through the bush to a broad walk over mangroves and out to a shed on the lake, all pictured below. Coombabah Lake Nature Reserve After we finished this short walk we went to another area of Coombabah Lakelands where we found a longer track. This was a five minute drive from Shelter Road. The walk started as a broad walk over the water then turned into a path beside the […]

Dreamtime Beach
What a delightful Sunday it has been here on the Sunny Gold Coast and surrounding regions. For those who don’t know, I am currently residing on Australia’s Gold Coast while I work full-time and save for my next adventure (CANT WAIT). I spend my precious free time (my weekends) exploring the Gold Coast and surrounding regions: Northern NSW, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Gold Coast hinterland. This Sunday I adventured down the coast to Dreamtime Beach in Northern NSW and spent the morning watching pods of dolphins catching waves and whales pass by off the coast. Although I crave travel and adventures into the unknown, I am eternally grateful to be from such a beautiful part of the world and get to experience amazing things like this in my own back yard. It really is the little things in life that make you the happiest. Dreamtime Beach Dreamtime Beach is one of my favourite places to escape to on the weekend. The beaches are perfect and usually less busy than Gold Coast beaches. Many of my Sundays are spent  road tripping down the coast to find new stretches of private beach, waves and new cafes. There are so many amazing beaches in Northern […]

Whale Watching at Dreamtime Beach

Enchanted forest Revelstoke ZipLine
The Gold Coast is surrounded by beautiful hinterland, rain forests and national parks. Mt Tamborine is one of Queensland’s most treasured tropical rain forests and on Saturday we were lucky enough to experience its beauty. With perfect spring weather it was a great day to visit Thunderbird Park and complete the Tree Top Challenge. My name is Lucy and I love nature and adventure, so Thunderbird Park is my kind of place. I have been out the stunning and fun filed Thunderbird Park twice before and could happily go exploring around Thunderbird Park many more times. On this day my co-worker, Jackie drove to Thunderbird Park, so for the first time I got to be a passenger and enjoy the beautiful, scenic drive up Mount Tamborine. As we got up the mountain and started approaching Thunderbird the excitement emerged. As you drive into Thunderbird Park you notice the variety of adventures on offer. From a high ropes course to laser skirmish, horse riding and thunder egg fossicking, the options are, well, hard to choose from as they all look like so much fun. Today we would be doing the high ropes course. I love high ropes courses so was super […]
