I wanted to have a little fun and put together a list of things you don’t know about me. Despite the fact that I post to social media daily, there are quite a few things that I don’t share with the public. As many bloggers do, we share the exciting and inspiring parts of our lives, our strengths and wins. We don’t share the bad days and the random (and weird) things about ourselves. So I want to be real with you and share 10 things that you don’t know about me.
Most people pack on the day they leave and leave their bags packed for months on return
I am the opposite. I have always started packing my bags for a trip weeks in advance. I usually wear the clothes I have packed and repacked, so it is essentially pointless to pack so early but it is something I have done since I was a child.
When I return from a trip I always unpack and start the washing machine immediately.
I’m a crazy bird lady.
Okay, so I don’t own like 10 birds, but I am completely obsessed with them. Especially Australian Birds. I could literally watch them for hours. I have no doubt that when I retire I will be the strange old lady that goes on two-week bird watching tours into the jungle.
I have always been really good with my money
Something I likely learnt from growing up with none.
Being good with money has allowed me to travel around the world and buy an apartment at just 24.
I write lists for everything
Yep, I am one of those people who write lists for EVERYTHING. Oh, how satisfying it is to cross things off. Do you feel me?
I grew up in country Australia
I wouldn’t even call it a country town, I literally grew up in the middle of nowhere. Looking back I am so thankful for my upbringing. As a child, I got to ride motorbikes and horses, swim in the creeks, eat fresh veggies straight from the garden (every day), milk cows and walk around with bare feet. These are experiences that I realise not many people have.
My primary school experience was one like no other.
There was a total of 30 kids in my primary school.
We had two separate classes. Kindergarten and grades, 1,2 and 3 were in one classroom and grades 4, 5 and 6 in another. This meant I did Kindy, 1, 2 and 3 – four times and 4, 5 and 6 – three times.
We started each school day by running laps of the school grounds, then doing tai chi before heading into the classroom.
I am certain that not many primary school children get an educational experience like this.
I once was lost
In high school, I completely lost my way. I was caught up with people and things that weren’t me and I wasn’t comfortable being myself.
Looking back I realise that high school was a horrible time for me and I know many other people feel the same way. This is the first time in our lives that we feel so many emotions that we have never felt before, and experience things we never have before. It can be hard to cope with everything.
If you are currently studying and feel this way, just know you are not alone.
A gap year changed my life
For my gap year, I moved to Canada all by myself on a working holiday. It changed the entire course of my life.
Being alone allowed me to make my own decisions, hang out with people who shared similar interests with me and learn all the basic life skills you don’t gain when you live at home.
I found myself and my confidence and since then have never been afraid of being myself. I realised that people love you because you are you, and nothing else.

I haven’t worn makeup in years
Gaining my confidence made me realise that I don’t need a face full of makeup to look good. I am happy in my skin and as a result, I haven’t worn ANY makeup in years.
I would put some on for a special event, but I actually don’t even own any.
I have a degree in Tourism
Literally. After my first overseas trip at 18, I fell in love with travel so decided to complete a degree in it. In 2016 I graduated with a Bachelor of Business majoring in Marketing and Sustainable Tourism Management. A degree that is perfect for me. Now I just need to make travel my career, a path that is well and truly on its way.
I hope you enjoyed these 10 facts about myself.
